Geography
Semnan Province stretches over an area of approximately 96,000 square kilometers, constituting about 5.6% of Iran's total land area. It is nestled on the southern slopes of the Alborz Mountain Range, presenting a dramatic decline in elevation as it approaches the Dasht-e Kavir, Iran's Great Salt Desert, to the south.

The province's population is predominantly Iranian, with a significant number of individuals speaking Semnani proper. The Semnani language has similarities to the Old Iranian Median language and has been historically influenced by the Parthian language.
