The National Liberal Party (Romanian: Partidul Național Liberal, or PNL) is a prominent Christian democratic political party in Romania. The National Liberal Party was originally founded in 1875, making it one of the oldest political parties in Romania. One notable alliance was the formation of the Social Liberal Union (USL) in 2011, in collaboration with the Social Democratic Party, the National Union for the Progress of Romania, and the Conservative Party. However, the alliance was short-lived as the PNL exited in February 2014, returning to the opposition.

In mid-2023, adhering to a coalition protocol, Nicolae Ciucă stepped down as part of an agreement between the PNL and the PSD, allowing Marcel Ciolacu of the PSD to assume the role of Prime Minister. This change highlighted the volatile and often collaborative nature of Romanian politics, where the PNL continues to play a pivotal role. The current political landscape sees the PNL as a significant force in the Ciolacu Cabinet, despite not holding the premiership.
