Mrt Circle Line
The Circle Line (CCL) is a medium-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in Singapore. It is distinctive for its loop configuration, running through key areas of the city from Dhoby Ghaut station in the city-center to HarbourFront, through several residential and business districts.
The Circle Line is part of Singapore’s extensive MRT network, which also includes notable lines such as the North South Line and the East West Line. The line was developed in phases, with its first stage opening in 2009 and full completion achieved in 2011. An extension, known as Stage 6, is underway to further enhance connectivity, linking areas like Keppel and Marina Bay.
The Circle Line encompasses several important interchange stations, allowing passengers to transfer seamlessly to other MRT lines. Notable interchanges include:
The Circle Line is fully integrated with Singapore’s comprehensive public transport system, including bus services operated by SBS Transit and SMRT Buses. This integration facilitates convenient travel across the city-state.
The addition of Stage 6 is expected to complete the loop of the Circle Line, offering even greater connectivity and convenience. The full Circle Line aims to alleviate congestion on other MRT lines and enhance accessibility to developing areas.
The Circle Line is emblematic of Singapore’s forward-thinking approach to urban transit, reflecting a commitment to efficient and sustainable public transportation.
