Objectives of Keluarga Malaysia
The concept of Keluarga Malaysia was introduced by Ismail Sabri Yaakob on August 22, 2021, during his inaugural speech as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. This concept was envisioned as a unifying framework to bring the diverse tapestry of Malaysian society together under a common identity, akin to a family.
Objectives
The primary objectives of the Keluarga Malaysia initiative encompass fostering unity, resilience, and shared prosperity among all Malaysians, regardless of their ethnic, cultural, or religious backgrounds. Below are the key objectives detailed within the framework:
1. Unity and Inclusivity
Keluarga Malaysia underscores the importance of unity and inclusivity. It aims to dissolve racial, cultural, and religious barriers, promoting harmony and coexistence among Malaysians. Unity is sought through the reinforcement of solidarity within the nation, encouraging every citizen to see each other as members of one extended family.
2. Social and Economic Well-being
The economic well-being of Malaysians is central to the Keluarga Malaysia vision. The initiative focuses on enhancing the economic stability of families, improving livelihoods, and ensuring that no Malaysian is left behind in the country's progress. This includes creating opportunities for upward mobility and reducing socioeconomic disparities.
3. Resilience and Preparedness
Resilience is another critical pillar of Keluarga Malaysia. The initiative seeks to strengthen the capability of Malaysians to face challenges, whether they be economic, natural, or health-related, like the COVID-19 pandemic. It promotes the development of robust systems and infrastructures to withstand future adversities.
4. Cultural Acceptance and Tolerance
Keluarga Malaysia places emphasis on cultural acceptance and tolerance, recognizing Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry. It encourages mutual respect and understanding among different ethnic groups, fostering an environment where cultural diversity is celebrated as an asset rather than a division.
5. Civic Responsibility and Engagement
Encouraging civic responsibility and engagement among citizens is pivotal. The initiative calls for active participation in community development and national progress, urging Malaysians to contribute positively to society and partake in nation-building efforts.
These objectives align with various national policies and strategies aimed at enhancing the country's societal fabric. The Keluarga Malaysia initiative also serves as a strategic pivot in Malaysia's governance, replacing prior concepts like Malaysia Madani, which further emphasizes the need for sustainable and inclusive development.
