Johan Setia LRT Station

The Johan Setia LRT Station is a key component of the LRT Shah Alam Line in Selangor, Malaysia. As an elevated light rapid transit station, it serves as a significant transit point for commuters in the Klang Valley area, specifically in the town of Klang. This station is part of a larger initiative to enhance public transportation accessibility and efficiency in the region.

LRT Shah Alam Line

Previously known as the LRT Bandar Utama–Klang Line, the LRT Shah Alam Line, also referred to as LRT3, is a medium capacity rapid transit line. It was designed to connect the areas of Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, and Klang, contributing to the integrated public transit network in the western side of Selangor.

The Shah Alam Line starts at Bandar Utama in Kelana Jaya, traveling through key locations such as the Glenmarie Industrial Park, Shah Alam Stadium, and the city center of Shah Alam, before reaching Johan Setia.

Development and Challenges

The LRT Shah Alam Line was proposed in May 2014, as a strategic move to improve transportation in densely populated areas. The project faced financial scrutiny following the 2018 Malaysian general election, which saw a change in government from the Barisan Nasional to the Pakatan Harapan. With rising national debt, the new government proposed cost-cutting measures, affecting several aspects of the LRT3 project. Some stations like Lien Hoe, Temasya, SIRIM, and Bukit Raja were reclassified as provisional, while the underground station of Persiaran Hishamuddin was canceled.

Importance to Klang

The station's strategic placement in Johan Setia highlights its importance in connecting residential areas with commercial hubs. As the terminal station of the Shah Alam Line, it facilitates ease of movement for daily commuters and aids in reducing traffic congestion in the Klang Valley.
