Hyatt Hotels Corporation

Hyatt Hotels Corporation, commonly known as Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, is a renowned American multinational hospitality company. With its headquarters located in the Riverside Plaza, this conglomerate is celebrated for its luxury hotels, resorts, and vacation properties spread across the globe.

History and Expansion

The origins of Hyatt Hotels date back to September 27, 1957, with the acquisition of the Hyatt House, which was an airport motel adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport. The visionary Pritzker brothers, Jay Pritzker and Donald Pritzker, foresaw the potential of strategically positioning high-quality hotels near bustling airports. This insight led to the rapid establishment of Hyatt House Hotels near San Francisco International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Hyatt Corporation went public in 1962, marking its official entry into the competitive hospitality industry. By 1969, Hyatt expanded internationally with its first overseas hotel, the Hong Kong Hyatt Hotel, now known as the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong.

In 1972, Hyatt formed the Elsinore Corporation, a subsidiary to manage the Four Queens Hotel and Casino and the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino.
