Playing Field
Field hockey is played on a field hockey pitch, which is a rectangular area traditionally made of natural grass but now predominantly on synthetic surfaces. These artificial turfs provide a faster-paced and more consistent playing experience. The dimensions of a hockey pitch are generally 91.4 meters in length and 55 meters in width, and it includes goals at each end where the objective is to score.
International Competitions and History
Field hockey has a storied presence in international sports competitions. It was first introduced to the Summer Olympics in 1908 and has remained a fixture apart from a few exceptions. The Men's FIH Hockey World Cup is another prestigious event, organized by the International Hockey Federation, featuring teams from around the world vying for the title.
