Woodlands, Singapore

Woodlands is a vibrant residential town situated in the northern region of Singapore. It's part of the North Region and serves as a vital link between Singapore and Malaysia via the Johor–Singapore Causeway.

Geography and Subzones

The planning area of Woodlands is divided into several subzones including Greenwood Park, Midview, North Coast, Senoko West, Woodgrove, Woodlands East, Woodlands Regional Centre, Woodlands South, and Woodlands West. The Woodlands New Town was developed during the 1980s in line with Singapore's urban planning strategy to decentralize the city center and promote self-contained residential areas.

Infrastructure and Connectivity

Woodlands is a key transport hub, featuring the Woodlands Checkpoint which is one of Singapore's two land border checkpoints with Malaysia. In addition, the Woodlands Train Checkpoint facilitates railway connections to Malaysia. The Woodlands MRT station serves as an interchange on the North-South Line and Thomson-East Coast Line, enhancing access within the town and to other parts of Singapore. The Woodlands North MRT station is also the starting point for the future Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System.

The Woodlands Bus Interchange complements the town's transportation infrastructure by providing extensive bus services.

Recreational Facilities

Woodlands is known for its well-maintained parks and recreational spaces. The Admiralty Park spans 27 hectares and includes significant mangrove areas. The Woodlands Waterfront Park is another prominent riverside park that attracts residents with its scenic views and leisure facilities.

Community and Lifestyle

Woodlands hosts a diverse array of shops, eateries, and commercial zones, making it a lively community hub both day and night. The town's amenities include playgrounds, communal gardens, sheltered pavements, multi-level parking lots, and recreational facilities like tennis courts, ensuring a high quality of life.

Sports and Health Facilities

Woodlands is home to the former Woodlands Wellington Football Club, which played in the S.League. The area is also set to have a state-of-the-art healthcare facility with the opening of Woodlands Hospital.
