Trinity College, Connecticut
Trinity College is a private liberal arts college located in Hartford, Connecticut, United States. It was founded as Washington College in 1823, making it the second-oldest college in the state of Connecticut. The institution became coeducational in 1969 and currently enrolls approximately 2,235 students.
History
In its early years, Trinity College was located on "College Hill" in downtown Hartford, which is now the site of the Connecticut State Capitol. In 1872, the state persuaded the college to relocate to its current 100-acre (40 ha) campus a mile southwest on Gallows Hill. The move, however, was only completed in 1878. A notable historical event includes the first broadcasts of Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) from the Trinity College Public Library in 1962, later transitioning to Boardman Hall, a science building on campus.
