Stray Kids

Stray Kids (abbreviated as SKZ; Korean: 스트레이 키즈; RR: Seuteurei Kijeu) is a South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment in 2017. The band is known for its unique and innovative approach to K-pop, integrating diverse musical styles and dynamic performances.

Formation and Early Years

In August 2017, JYP Entertainment announced the creation of a new reality survival show aimed at launching a male idol debut project. The show, titled Stray Kids, premiered on October 17, 2017, on Mnet. Before the show aired, the group released their first music video, "Hellevator," which was subsequently released as a digital single. The show concluded with the formation of the final lineup of the group.

Members

Stray Kids consists of eight members, each bringing unique talents to the group:

  • Bang Chan - Leader, producer, and vocalist.
  • Lee Know - Main dancer and vocalist.
  • Changbin - Rapper and member of the production unit 3Racha.
  • Hyunjin - Dancer and vocalist.
  • Han - Rapper, vocalist, and member of 3Racha.
  • Felix - Rapper and dancer.
  • Seungmin - Vocalist.
  • I.N - Vocalist and the youngest member.

Musical Releases and Achievements

Stray Kids' discography includes a range of albums and extended plays that showcase their evolving sound and musical prowess. They have released six studio albums, including both Korean and Japanese versions, along with numerous EPs and singles. Their Korean-language album "Go Live" (2020) gained critical acclaim and became their first platinum-certified album by the Korea Music Content Association.

Their Japanese debut occurred with the compilation album "SKZ2020," released through Epic Records Japan. With multiple releases topping the US Billboard 200, Stray Kids achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first act to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 with their first eight charted releases.

Sub-units and Contributions

Stray Kids are also known for their production team and sub-unit, 3Racha, which comprises Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han. 3Racha is heavily involved in the songwriting and production of Stray Kids' music, contributing to their distinct sound and lyrical themes.
