This match marked the first official football match ever played in Spain, and Sevilla FC emerged victorious with a 2–0 win. Ritson, a player from the team, scored the first goal in Spanish football history.

In 1905, Sevilla FC was officially founded. The early 20th century saw the establishment of several other football clubs in Seville, including Sevilla Balompíe in 1907, and Betis Football Club in 1909. Despite the rise of these clubs, Sevilla FC maintained a dominant position in regional competitions.
