Seoul Broadcasting System

Established in 1990, SBS has grown to become one of the leading media organizations in South Korea, providing a wide range of programming that includes news, dramas, variety shows, and music programs.
SBS was founded as a private broadcasting company following the South Korean government's policy to liberalize the media industry. This relaxed regulations and allowed for privatization, encouraging competition among broadcasters. The network started with its flagship television channel, SBS TV, which went live in December 1991.
SBS TV is a free-to-air channel that offers a comprehensive lineup of programs including entertainment shows, dramas, documentaries, and news. The channel has produced numerous popular Korean dramas and variety shows that have gained international recognition and have been pivotal in the Korean Wave, or Hallyu, which refers to the global popularity of South Korean culture.
