Seikei University

Seikei University (成蹊大学, Seikei Daigaku) is a prominent private university located in the Kichijōji area of Musashino, a city in the western part of Tokyo, Japan. The university is renowned for its rich heritage, academic excellence, and longstanding association with the Mitsubishi Group.

History

Seikei University's roots trace back to 1906, when it was established with the support of Koyata Iwasaki, the fourth head of the Mitsubishi zaibatsu. The institution initially benefitted from financial aid provided by donations from the Mitsubishi Group. This support continued until the end of World War II, after which Seikei University became an independent entity due to the dissolution of the zaibatsu. However, the university maintains a close relationship with the Mitsubishi Group even today.

In 1949, under the new School Education Law, Seikei was formally recognized as a university, marking a significant milestone in its development.
