Initiatives and Schemes

The Ministry spearheads several initiatives and schemes to address the challenges faced by MSMEs:

Udyam Registration: A simplified registration process introduced in July 2020, streamlining the process for MSMEs to avail benefits under various government schemes.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission: An organization under the ministry tasked with promoting and developing khadi and village industries.
National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC): A public sector enterprise that acts as a catalyst for small industries' growth through various support services.

Industrial Support Infrastructure

The Ministry also oversees several institutions aimed at supporting MSME growth:

National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises: An autonomous institution focused on training, research, and consultancy for MSME development.
Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI): Although independent, SIDBI works in alignment with the Ministry to provide financial support and policy guidance to MSMEs.
