In 1790, the Secretary of State and Universal Dispatch of the Indies was dissolved, and the responsibility for American taxation was integrated into the Treasury. The Ministry was organized into two main offices: one dedicated to taxation within Spain and the other to the Indies.
The period following 1793 was marked by continuous warfare, lasting until 1845. The Ministry played a critical role in managing the public debt, which had escalated due to these conflicts.
