The Metro Vancouver Regional District, commonly referred to as Metro Vancouver, is a prominent regional district located in the southwestern part of British Columbia, Canada. Historical Background

Initially established as the Regional District of Fraser–Burrard in 1967, the organization underwent a name change to become the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) in 1968. It retained this title until 2017 when it adopted its current name, Metro Vancouver Regional District.
