Melanesia and Melanesian Peoples
Melanesia is a culturally and geographically diverse subregion of Oceania in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It extends from the island of New Guinea in the west to the Fiji Islands in the east, encompassing numerous archipelagos, islands, and indigenous communities. The area known as Island Melanesia stretches east of New Guinea, from the Bismarck Archipelago to New Caledonia.
