Malcolm Brogdon
Malcolm Moses Brogdon (born December 11, 1992) is an American professional basketball player known for his prowess on both ends of the court. He has played for various teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA), including the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, and the Boston Celtics.
Brogdon was born to Gino Brogdon and was raised in a family that valued education and achievement. His father served as a judge, which imbued in Malcolm a strong sense of discipline and dedication. He attended Greater Atlanta Christian School in Georgia, where his excellence on the basketball court began to shine, leading him to pursue a collegiate basketball career.
Malcolm Brogdon attended the University of Virginia, where he played for the Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team under coach Tony Bennett. During his time at Virginia, he became known for his defensive capabilities and shooting accuracy, contributing significantly to the team's NCAA successes.
Brogdon was drafted into the NBA by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft. He quickly proved his worth by winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award, becoming only the second player from Virginia to achieve this honor, the first being Ralph Sampson.
While with the Bucks, Brogdon's reputation as a reliable player was solidified. He became a member of the prestigious 50–40–90 club, highlighting his efficient shooting prowess—50% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and 90% from the free-throw line.
Brogdon was traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2019, where he continued to develop his skill set. His role with the Pacers allowed him to take on more leadership responsibilities on the court, further showcasing his all-around abilities.
In 2023, Brogdon was traded to the Boston Celtics, where he joined forces with other talented players to compete at the highest levels of the NBA. Notably, he was part of a trade deal where the Celtics sent him to the Portland Trail Blazers in a package that included other key players.
