Local Government Areas Of Nigeria
Nigeria is a federation composed of 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Each state is further divided into administrative divisions known as Local Government Areas (LGAs). There are a total of 774 LGAs across the country, which includes 768 standard LGAs and 6 Area Councils, particularly within the Federal Capital Territory.
Each Local Government Area is managed by a local government council, which is an essential part of the third tier of government in Nigeria. The council is composed of a chairman, who serves as the chief executive, and other elected members known as councillors. These councillors represent the different wards within the LGA. Each LGA is subdivided into a minimum of ten and a maximum of twenty wards, each of which is represented by a councillor.

In Ogun State, there are 20 LGAs, with populations ranging from approximately 55,093 to 539,170. The LGAs play significant roles in local administration and the execution of state policies at the grassroots level.
In Rivers State, the Port Harcourt Local Government Area stands out as one of the 23 LGAs. Port Harcourt is a major urban center known for its economic activities related to the oil industry.
