Kota Kemuning
Kota Kemuning is a prominent township located within the constituency of Kota Raja, in the Klang District, Selangor, Malaysia. It is situated just south of Shah Alam and borders Putra Heights on its east, across the Klang River. The township is approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
Kota Kemuning was developed by Hicom-Gamuda Development Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between DRB-HICOM and Gamuda Berhad. This project marked Gamuda Land's first foray into property development in 1994. The township is renowned for its healthy and harmonious living environment, making it one of the Klang Valley's finest residential areas.
The township includes a variety of commercial developments, such as commercial centers, shop offices, and factories, along with residential properties. The Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole golf course, is a notable feature, having hosted prestigious events like the Maybank Malaysian Open and the Volvo Masters.
One of the standout features of Kota Kemuning is the Kota Kemuning Lakeside Park. This urban park is designed to provide residents with a serene and natural environment, enhancing the recreational lifestyle of the community.
Kota Kemuning is home to Kota Kemuning National Secondary School, which serves as an educational institution for the local population. The school is a part of the national educational system and contributes to the community's development.
The township's connectivity is enhanced by the Kemuning–Shah Alam Highway, which features several interchanges including the Kemuning Interchange that connects to the Shah Alam Expressway. This infrastructure supports the seamless movement of residents and goods, facilitating economic activities.
Kota Kemuning is a state constituency represented in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly since 2018. As of August 2023, Preakas Sampunathan serves as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for this area, and he is a member of the Democratic Action Party.
