Klang City
Klang, also known as Kelang, is a city in the state of Selangor in Malaysia. Officially referred to as the Royal City of Klang (Malay: Bandaraya Diraja Klang), it has historically been the capital of Selangor until the administrative functions were moved to Shah Alam. Klang retains its status as a royal city, known for its historical significance and economic contributions to the region.

Klang is strategically located within the Klang District and is divided by the Klang River, with the town of Kapar to the north. The city is part of the Klang Valley, a metropolitan area that includes Kuala Lumpur and surrounding cities, and is a vital part of the Greater Kuala Lumpur area.

A pivotal economic aspect of Klang is its port, Port Klang, which is the principal maritime gateway of Malaysia, situated on the strategic Strait of Malacca. Known during colonial times as Port Swettenham, Port Klang is one of the busiest ports in Southeast Asia and plays a crucial role in Malaysia's trade and logistics sector.
History
Klang's history is marked by the Klang War, also known as the Selangor Civil War, which occurred from 1866 to 1874. This series of conflicts was primarily about rivalries between local Malay chiefs and was significant in shaping the political landscape of Selangor during the 19th century.
