Historical Significance
After the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963, Johor Bahru continued to serve as the state capital of Johor. The district witnessed substantial development with the construction of new townships and industrial estates. The Indonesian Confrontation in the 1960s had limited impact on Johor Bahru, as the main conflict areas in Johor were located in Labis and Tenang in the Segamat District and Pontian District.
