Iskandar Regional Development Authority

The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), known in Malay as Pihak Berkuasa Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar, is a statutory body established by the Malaysian government to oversee the development and administration of Iskandar Malaysia. This region is a major economic corridor in the southern part of Johor, Malaysia.

Formation and Purpose

Founded in 2006, the authority was created to facilitate, regulate, and promote growth in the Iskandar Malaysia region. The IRDA functions under the purview of the Ministry of Economy (Malaysia), with its Members of Authority co-chaired by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Chief Minister of Johor.
