Berjaya Times Square
Berjaya Times Square is a prominent 48-storey twin tower located in the Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This architectural marvel comprises a hotel, condominium, indoor amusement park, commercial offices, and an expansive shopping centre complex. The development officially opened to the public in 2003 under the ownership of the Berjaya Group headed by Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
The land on which Berjaya Times Square stands was initially owned by philanthropist Cheong Yoke Choy before World War II. His bungalow occupied the site until the property was acquired by the Berjaya Group for the construction of the current complex. The building's completion marked it as the world's largest building ever built in a single phase, with an immense built-up floor area of 700,000 m² (7,500,000 sq ft), making it the tenth largest building in the world by floor area.
The architecture of Berjaya Times Square is notable for its towering twin structures, reaching a height of 203 meters (666 feet). The complex encompasses a diverse range of facilities, including a 19-storey shopping mall that houses over 1,000 retail shops. The design integrates both functional and leisure components, merging business offices with luxury service suites and an array of entertainment options.
As a major shopping and recreation destination, Berjaya Times Square features 65 food outlets and several entertainment attractions, including the renowned Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, which offers a variety of thrilling rides and activities. The shopping complex is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, contributing significantly to Kuala Lumpur's reputation as a shopping haven.
