Bagsværd
Bagsværd (Danish pronunciation: [ˈpɑwˌsveˀɐ̯]) is a middle-class suburb located approximately 12 km northwest of central Copenhagen, in the Gladsaxe Municipality. The town center is recognizable by the Bagsværd Towers, two high-rise apartment blocks.
Transportation
Bagsværd is connected to the Danish S-Train network through the H and B lines, which service three stations in Bagsværd: Skovbrynet, Bagsværd, and Stengården. This provides convenient access to central Copenhagen.
Economy and Major Companies
Bagsværd is notable for housing the headquarters of prominent Danish companies:
- Novo Nordisk: A multinational pharmaceutical company, renowned for its diabetes care products. Novo Nordisk is a major employer in the area and contributes significantly to the local economy.

Bagsværd Church
One of the architectural highlights of Bagsværd is the Bagsværd Church, a Lutheran church designed by the renowned architect Jørn Utzon. Completed in 1976, the church is celebrated for its unique design elements and innovative use of light and space. Utzon, also famous for designing the Sydney Opera House, infused the church with a sense of calm and spirituality through its carefully crafted interior.
Recreation and Nature
Lake Bagsværd (Danish: Bagsværd Sø) is a popular recreational area adjacent to the suburb. The lake has hosted several international rowing competitions, including the 1963 European Rowing Championships. The surrounding area is ideal for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and picnicking.
Gladsaxe Municipality
