History
In 1978, the USTA moved the US Open from the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, Queens to its current location in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park. In 2006, the center was renamed in honor of Billie Jean King, a trailblazing tennis player and advocate for gender equality in sports. King is celebrated for her significant contributions to tennis and her role in the Battle of the Sexes match against Bobby Riggs.
