Thai League 1
The pinnacle of the Thai football league system is Thai League 1, also known as T1. This is the highest level of professional football in Thailand and was established in 1996 as the Thailand Soccer League. It underwent a rebranding in 2017 from the Thai Premier League to its current name. Thai League 2
Below the top tier, Thai League 2, commonly referred to as T2, serves as the second division. It was initially known as the Thai Division 1 League before its rebranding. Thai League 3
Thai League 3, or T3, began its journey in 2017, becoming the third tier of the system. This level provides a platform for clubs to compete and potentially move up to higher tiers. The league's creation was part of an ongoing effort to expand and develop football in Thailand.

The Thai football league system evolved from earlier competitions like the Football Royal Cup, a major event before the establishment of Thai League 1. During the period from 2013 to 2015, Buriram United notably dominated the league, winning three consecutive titles, including two unbeaten seasons. This period is often referred to as the Buriram Dominance.
