In 1910, the school had 47 boarders, and by 1911, with the opening of the University of Queensland, two St Margaret's students were among its inaugural attendees. The school motto, "Per Volar Sunata" (Born to Fly Upwards), was introduced under the leadership of its headmistress, signaling the institution's commitment to empowering young women.
