Raja Ja'afar Ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa
Raja Ja'afar ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa (Jawi: راج جعفر ابن المرحوم راج مودا موسى) is the Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Perak. Born on 26 September 1941 in Taiping, Perak, he ascended to this position on 1 July 2014, following a distinguished career within the royal order of succession.
Early Life and Background
Raja Ja'afar was born during the Japanese occupation of Malaya at Taiping Hospital. He is the son of Raja Muda Musa ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Abdul Aziz and his first wife, Che' Puan Mariam binti Abdullah. His familial connections place him prominently within the Perak royal family.
Royal Appointments
Initially appointed as the Raja DiHilir of Perak on 10 March 1998, Raja Ja'afar succeeded in this capacity after the passing of Raja Ahmad Hisham Raja Abdul Malek. The Dewan Negara Perak, a legislative body of the Perak state, appointed him to this role, solidifying his place in the line of succession. His leadership and experience in this role prepared him for his eventual appointment as the Crown Prince of Perak.
Personal Life
Raja Ja'afar's personal life has been marked by significant events and relationships. He was first married to Raja Nor Mahani binti Almarhum Raja Shahar Shah, who held the title of Raja Puan Besar of Perak. They had two children together: Raja Shah Azman and Raja Nor Azwina. Tragically, his first wife passed away on 3 October 2017.
In 2002, Raja Ja'afar married Che’ Puan Hazleza Ishak, a former model. This marriage was marred by tragedy when her body was discovered on 11 October 2002 under suspicious circumstances, leading to significant public and media attention. The incident involved speculation and police investigations concerning potential foul play, yet no charges were brought against any parties involved.
