Port Moody
Port Moody is a city located in the province of British Columbia, Canada. It is a member of the Metro Vancouver Regional District and is situated at the east end of Burrard Inlet. This city is named after Colonel Richard Clement Moody, a prominent figure in the early history of British Columbia as the founder and first Lieutenant-Governor of the Colony of British Columbia.
Early History and Development
Port Moody's history is closely tied to the development of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway was a pivotal factor in the city's early growth. In 1879, it was declared the terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which spurred rapid development. The railway was a condition for British Columbia joining the Canadian Confederation in 1871. The line was completed in 1885, with the last spike driven at Craigellachie, and the first scheduled passenger train arrived in Port Moody on July 4, 1886, a date still commemorated as part of the Golden Spike Days festival.

Port Moody is nestled among the Coast Mountains and is bordered by the villages of Belcarra and Anmore to the northwest and north, respectively. Its geographical position offers a unique blend of urban and natural landscapes, making it an appealing location for residents and visitors alike.
