Nippon Cargo Airlines
Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) is a Japanese cargo airline headquartered on the property of Narita International Airport in Narita, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Established on September 27, 1978, NCA commenced operations on May 8, 1985, becoming Japan's first all-cargo airline. Over the years, it has expanded its network to include numerous cities across three continents.
History
NCA was originally founded as a joint venture, and its initial headquarters was a single room within All Nippon Airways' space at the Kasumigaseki Building. The airline has grown significantly since its inception, becoming a major player in the global air freight industry.
In December 2010, NCA was chosen to provide ground support services for the Japanese Air Force One aircraft, succeeding Japan Airlines, which was retiring its Boeing 747 fleet at that time. In a landmark move on August 1, 2025, ANA Holdings Inc. acquired all shares of Nippon Cargo Airlines from Nippon Yusen through a simplified share exchange.
Operations and Fleet
Nippon Cargo Airlines operates a fleet of advanced cargo aircraft, predominantly consisting of Boeing 747 freighters. It is a major operator in the sector, alongside other cargo airlines such as Singapore Airlines Cargo and Challenge Airlines IL.
NCA's operations are centered at Narita International Airport, which serves as a primary hub for international flights, in collaboration with All Nippon Airways and other major carriers such as United Airlines.
Headquarters and Infrastructure
The airline's headquarters, known as the NCA Line Maintenance Hangar (NCAライン整備ハンガー), is situated within the engineering and maintenance complex at Narita Airport. This facility underscores NCA's commitment to maintaining high operational standards and ensuring the reliability of its cargo services.
