Muangthong United Football Club (Thai: สโมสรฟุตบอลเมืองทอง ยูไนเต็ด) is a prominent Thai professional football club based in Muang Thong Thani, Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi province. The club competes in the Thai League 1, which is the top-tier of the football league system in Thailand.

History

The club's origins trace back to the formation of the Thailand Division 2 League by the Football Association of Thailand, which aimed to elevate the level of competitive football in the nation. Originally, the team was part of the Norgjorg Pittayanusorn Football Club's entrants.

In 2007, a significant transition occurred when Siam Sport Syndicate, led by Rawi Lohtong, acquired the club. Under his leadership, the club was renamed Muangthong United Football Club and relocated to the new Thunderdome Stadium in Muang Thong Thani.

Rise to Prominence

The club's rise was meteoric, achieving its first major success by winning the Thailand Division 2 League in 2007. This victory secured their promotion to the Thai Division 1 League. By the 2009 season, the team had ascended to the Thai League 1, earning them the moniker "3 Years 3 Champs" for their rapid progression through the league tiers.
