Tangkak District, previously known as Ledang District, is an administrative district located in the northwestern part of the state of Johor, Malaysia. It was named after the prominent Mount Ledang (also historically referred to as Mount Ophir), which is a significant geographical landmark in the region.

Originally established as Ledang District, the area underwent a renaming process to become Tangkak District. This change was part of a series of administrative shifts in Johor, alongside other renamings such as Kulaijaya, which returned to its former name Kulai, and Nusajaya renamed to Iskandar Puteri. The decision to rename was decreed by Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar of Johor. The name "Ledang" was derived from Mount Ledang, which holds significant cultural and historical value.
