Kulim District

The Kulim District is located in the southeastern part of the state of Kedah, Malaysia. It lies adjacent to the state of Penang and is part of the greater George Town Conurbation, Malaysia's second-largest metropolitan area. The district takes its name from the kulim tree, scientifically known as Scorodocarpus borneensis.

Administration

The Kulim District is primarily governed by the Kulim Municipal Council, which evolved from the former Kulim District Council established on 1 February 1978. This council was formed through the merger of the Kulim Town Council and several local councils including the Padang Serai, Junjung, Mahang, and Merbau Pulas Local Councils. However, the Kulim Hi-Tech Park, a significant industrial area, is administered by a special local authority due to its unique economic role.

Kulim Hi-Tech Park

The Kulim Hi-Tech Park is a pioneering industrial park designed for high-technology enterprises within the district.
