Digital India Initiative
The Digital India Initiative is a flagship program launched by the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Announced in 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the initiative aims to ensure the availability of government services to citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and increasing Internet connectivity, especially in rural areas.
Objectives

Key Components
1. Broadband Highways: The initiative seeks to provide broadband highways across rural and urban areas to improve connectivity. This includes the BharatNet program which aims to connect all rural areas with high-speed digital highways.
2. Universal Access to Mobile Connectivity: Efforts are being made to ensure universal mobile connectivity to cover all uncovered villages in the country.
3. Public Internet Access Programme: The creation of a network of Common Service Centres (CSCs) to provide public access to the digital services offered by the government.
4. e-Governance: Reforming government through technology by simplifying and making the government processes more efficient and responsive.
5. e-Kranti: Delivering government services electronically to improve public service delivery and provide ease of access to citizens.
Digital India Initiatives
DigiLocker: Managed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, DigiLocker allows citizens to store essential documents digitally, reducing the need for physical documents.
UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance): This is a single platform that provides access to various government services through a mobile application, simplifying the process for citizens.
National Scholarship Portal: A one-stop solution for implementing various scholarship schemes offered by the Government of India, streamlining the application and disbursement process.
