Cebuano Language
The Cebuano language, also referred to as Binisayâ or simply Bisayâ by its native speakers, is an Austronesian language spoken predominantly in the southern regions of the Philippines. It is named after the island of Cebu, which is considered the source of Standard Cebuano. Despite its alternative English rendering as Cebuan, Cebuano should not be confused with other Bisayan languages.

Cebuano serves as the lingua franca in Central Visayas, the western parts of Eastern Visayas, certain areas in Palawan, and most regions of Mindanao. As the most widely spoken of the Bisayan languages, it holds significant cultural and linguistic importance in these areas.
